If I had a hammer...

Oh, who am I kidding, I would hand that hammer to Nancy!  We used our MLK day off to get some work done!  Our good friend D got to work early in the morning and painted the master bedroom, the main bathroom, the dining room, and the front room.

master bedroom - "City Storm"

Main bathroom "Cincinnati Hotel Beige" or something like that.

Dining and front room "Aspen Grey"
Nancy and I (definitely more Nancy) worked on tearing out the kitchen floor.  It has TWO layers of linoleum and each layer is separated by plywood.

Nancy is good with a pry bar...I am good with a candy bar.

2 layers of linoleum -can't decide which is more lovely.

Oh dear!
Seriously back-breaking work.  We received news that the bamboo floors will be installed this weekend.  We will keep you posted with that.  We also had our new dryer delivered!

It's a Maytag.  I don't have any strong appliance brand loyalties.  Do you?

Progress

Well, we haven't moved into the house yet.  We have made some progress.  In addition to tearing out most of the flooring, yucky toilets, and various other destruction, we removed a doorway and replaced it with a wall.  It was a doorway to a bathroom from the master bedroom.  I know, I know, why on earth would someone remove access to a bathroom from the master?  Because the master bedroom already has a bathroom.  It is small and needs work, but that is in the 5-7 year plan - major bathroom renovation.  Right now, we wanted to frame in that doorway and put a new frame around the existing closet so we can use a cool old classroom door we found and make it a sliding door.  More on that later.  Nancy tried her hand at drywall and she did a great job!

Before:  doorway to bathroom #2. (one should never say #2 after the word bathroom)

After:  no doorway to bathroom...you know...

We also had the pleasure of discovering the dining room wall had been paneled and wall paper was added some time after that.  We decided to rip out the paneling and replace the drywall.  It was too messed up from the glue to save.  Again, Nancy is on the job!

Before:  messed up from glue and nails.
During:  I see a bathroom in the there!
After:  She really is very good at this.
